  • Tickets are now on sale. If you want to bring a guest from another school: ALL GUEST FORMS MUST BE FULLY COMPLETED AND RETURNED TO SOUTH BY 3:45pm ON WEDNESDAY 2/5. This means (1) filled out by you, (2) signed by your guest's parent, and (3) signed by your guest's school administrator. Your guest must be approved by Ricci before you purchase their ticket.

​Celebrate South - Axe Hall of Fame Dinner & Fundraiser
Friends of South is looking for donations to the Celebrate South! silent auction on February 22. Samples of donated items include: Restaurant gift cards, tickets to concerts and shows, stays at vacation rentals, wine, sporting goods, and so on. Proceeds on these items from the silent auction are directed to the club or sport of the donor's choosing. For more information, contact Sarah Butler at sarahlorgebutler@gmail.com

This year's event will take place on Saturday, Feb. 22 at Venue 252.

Join Our Board of Directors: 
We are looking for passionate and dedicated individuals to join our Board of Directors and help us make a meaningful impact in the lives of South students through strategic leadership and fundraising support.

What We Need: We are specifically seeking volunteers who are committed to supporting student initiatives, fundraising efforts, and driving our mission forward. If you have experience in nonprofit leadership, event planning, marketing, finance, or fundraising, we would love to have you on board! 

Responsibilities of Board Members:
  • Help guide the strategic direction of our organization
  • Support and advocate for student initiatives
  • Help lead and contribute to fundraising efforts and campaigns
  • Attend monthly meetings and participate in organizational activities like Celebrate South
  • Leverage your network to build partnerships and secure funding
Who Should Apply? We are looking for individuals with a passion for education, community development, and making a difference in the lives of students. We need people who are willing to show up for the students of South!

This Week’s Featured Scholarships:

DUE 2/15/25 Hispanic Scholarship Fund. For students of Hispanic heritage pursuing a university degree. DACA students are eligible.

DUE 2/18/25 Early-bird deadline for the OSAC Scholarships common application. Apply to hundreds of different scholarships using a single application. Hint: This scholarship catalog should make it easier to search for scholarships. OSAC scholarships that South students are likely to be eligible for. Last year, South had 101 applicants, 23 awardees, and $80,702 awarded. Not bad odds!

DUE 3/1/25 Horatio Alger Distinguished Americans - Juniors. For an Oregon JUNIOR with demonstrated financial need and integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity

  • Scholarships are not just for seniors!
  • Need a recommendation from a counselor? Fill out the scholarship form in the counseling center.
  • Give at least two weeks' notice for requesting letters of rec.

2/3: DevNW Financial Foundations class, 1st day of 4-day Zoom workshop (Mon-Thu) from 4-6 pm. 2-hour classes each day that cover money management, credit, taxes, investing, avoiding debt, buying a car, paying for school, and other personal-finance topics relevant to Lane County youth ages 14-24.

2/6: Health Professions Hands-On Career Day. Takes place at LCC from 10 am-12 pm with check in beginning at 9:30. Open only to high school seniors. Students will be placed into three groups which will rotate through sessions with the Nursing, Emergency Services and Medical Assisting Programs.  South students register and attend on their own.

2/10: Women in Auto Open House @ Linn-Benton Community College (2000 West Oak Street, Lebanon, OR) from 6-8 pm. Explore automotive careers at Linn-Benton Community College. Speak with current students, learn about program offerings, tour the facilities, and get early registration info. Everyone is welcome!

2/10: Willamette University Junior Preview Day registration deadline. Event takes place on 2/14 from 8:30 am-2 pm. Get a campus tour and workshops to help with the college search, application process, and financial aid.  For students and parents.

4/17: The SAT will be offered for free  to juniors at SEHS who opt in. The Pre-ACT will be administered to all sophomores. More information, including the registration process, coming closer to the event date.
