A Note from our Principal

Dear South Community,

Welcome to another great year at South! School is starting next week, and I am so excited to see our students and families again.

As you know, our district has recently weathered some difficult economic times, which have led us to make painful decisions. Despite this, our staff are starting the year in good spirits and totally focussed on our mission: serving every student in our community.

Every year about this time I reflect on how incredibly lucky I am to be in this role at this school. South is where I went to school and my own kids attend schools in this region. It is humbling to be a small part of a long legacy of excellence.

As always, I welcome you to visit, write or call me with any questions or concerns.

Thank you and let’s have an exceptional school year!

Kee Zublin

Principal

School Policy Reminders

Please remember that Governor Kotek’s ban on personal electronic devices in schools is still in effect. Devices must be “parked” in classrooms in a cell phone holder, and “packed” in the hallways in backpacks.

Students may not use personal laptops or personal computers in school. Please use the school-issued device only.

Please avoid using the small front lot for picking up or dropping off students. The east and west lots are available for drop-off and pick-up purposes.

Beginning of the Year Info & Reminders

Need a bus pass? See Katie in the finance office! All 4J students get free bus passes to use on LTD busses.

Planning to drive to campus? All students must have a valid parking pass to use one of the student lots. Students are not authorized to park in any visitor spaces. This helps us verify that you're approved to be here, find you in case of any issues (leave your lights on? Video footage because someone door dinged you?), and helps us keep our parking lots available for students. Visit Katie in the finance office or pay online here: Parking Pass Link

Picture day is coming up! For incoming 9th graders, it will be on Tuesday 9/8. All other students will take photos on 9/21. Make up day is 10/21. You can place your order on mylifetouch.com using your Picture Day ID: EVT4TPVDB. Order before midnight on Picture Day to get FREE shipping!

If you need to contact your student in an emergency or unexpected situation, please contact the main office at 541-790-8000. We can contact a student or have them brought up from class. If it's an emergency, please let us know so we can respond appropriately.

Please answer calls that begin with 541-790-XXXX. These are 4J phones, and may be your student calling from our offices.

If you know about absences ahead of time, please communicate them to your student and to our attendance line at 541-790-8008, via email at dialsehs@4j.lane.edu, or via ParentSquare.

From our Parent Group

The 2026-2027 South Eugene Teacher Appreciation Team is excited to welcome back our staff, faculty, and students. To kick off the new school year, J&J Java (a food truck-style coffee truck) will be stationed in front of South Eugene High School from 7:30-8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 8, to provide free coffee and beverages to our staff and faculty. Students and parents are welcome to purchase a coffee drink! If you would like to donate to this event, please Venmo @sehsteacherappreciation

Nutrition Services Changes

With school approaching, it's a perfect time for parents to have a plan for student nutrition for the year. 4J Nutrition Services is ready to help, from sharing menus and supporting special dietary needs, to providing the pathway to setting up meal accounts.

This year will see some changes to school meals in 4J, which are similar to how all the neighboring school districts operate: each student will continue to receive one breakfast and one lunch each school day at no cost. Additional items, such as seconds, extra milks, or single milks for home lunch will be charged to the student's meal account. Families will have multiple resources available to help them understand the process, set up accounts, and manage payments with confidence. Budget constraints leave the district unable to continue a practice of allowing unlimited free additional meals. Student health and well-being is important for their success in school, and district staff will work with families to make sure every option and resource is explored for all health, nutrition and overall well-being concerns. Visit the Nutrition Services web page for more information and help.

Schedule Changes

Students requesting a change to their schedule should do it via the link on our website under academics - scheduling/forecasting or https://sehs.4j.lane.edu/32974_2. Any requests must be made by the student via their 4J account. You can find information about scheduling meetings with counselors on the website, too. Find this under academics - counseling or https://sehs.4j.lane.edu/23144_3.
