Eugene is located in the southern Willamette Valley between the Cascade Mountains and the Coast Range. It is the second largest city in Oregon with an approximate population of 137,000 people. Major employers include health care providers, education, city and county government, and retail trade. The city enjoys a low unemployment rate and growth in industry and commerce.

Distinction
South Eugene High School is distinguished as one of only two public immersion* high schools in the Western United States and is nationally recognized for academic excellence. (*French Immersion)
