South Eugene is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a premier high school in the nation. The award-winning staff and diverse student body take great pride in the sheer number of exceptional opportunities available at our open-campus school. A strong and vibrant curriculum is augmented with a competitive athletic program and rich activity offerings. Our curriculum includes college preparation, student-run businesses, health occupations, International Baccalaureate (International High School) and French Immersion. South provides extraordinary variety, from four foreign languages to a Fine Arts department that includes band, choir, drama, theater, orchestra and the visual arts. Computers are incorporated in an interdisciplinary fashion, allowing students to use contemporary technology in their academic explorations. Two computer labs are available to students with Internet access and e-mail service. The school governance model involves all stake holder groups in an intricate plan that support consensus decision making. South's large school population (over 1500 students) is connected by peer group advising and an abundance of clubs and student activities. South stresses the learning of skills, the acquisition of factual knowledge, and the enrichment of mind and character.
