This week is Guide Week! TCB! We’re taking care of business this week by adding a guide period every day but Wednesday. Here’s the daily schedule, as well as the nature of the business for that day.
The daily schedule follows… but if you’d like to download/print a one-page version of this information, click here >> Guide Week
PLEASE NOTE THAT WEDNESDAY WILL FOLLOW A REGULAR LATE-START WEDNESDAY SCHEDULE.
Brighton Beach Memoirs will open in the Little Theater on Wed., April 23 and run through Sat., April 26 at 7 p.m. nightly.
The play written by Neil Simon centers around Eugene Jerome, as he struggles to grow up in a Jewish household at the beginning of World War 2. Please go to SEHS Theater on this website for additional information, or to order tickets.
Plan to join Celebrate South on Friday, May 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the South Cafeteria!
This year’s Parent Council’s fundraiser will include a spaghetti dinner with a vegetarian option, salad, and bread, live music, a roving magician and much more. Raffle and silent auction prizes will include a beautiful red bicycle from Paul’s Bicycle Way of Life, very special Axe wine, and gift certificates from local merchants! Prince Puckler’s ice cream brownie sundaes will be available for an additional donation! Get your tickets right now. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children ten and under, or $25 per family of up to four. Check or money order can be mailed to South, or you can use cash or check at the South financial office.
The Parent Council elections for officers and committee chairs will be held at our next meeting on Wednesday, May 14.
Therefore, the PC Nominations Committee is taking applications for these leadership positions. Everyone is invited to apply. Although we have some parents that are willing to continue in their current positions for the next school year, there are several open positions. We would love to have more involvement! Open positions include Co-Chair, Site Council Representative, Fundraising Chair, and Class Representatives. To indicate interest in filling one of these positions, or if you have questions, please contact Lallie McKenzie at email@example.com or Chan Manda at firstname.lastname@example.org .
South Eugene’s Prom will be held May 17 from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at the Valley River Inn. This year’s theme is Casino Royale. Tickets will be on sale during lunch by the library for $25 with ASB and $28 without. Students who qualify for free and reduced lunch may purchase tickets for $15 (see Joni in the office for details). Also, Josephine’s Closet (an organization that distributes free dresses in order to make prom more affordable) will be coming to South on Friday, May 2 after school. Stop by the gym lobby to pick out a free prom dress! There are coupons for discounted Mr. Formal tuxedos available in the office too.

Teachers are available to students for Instructional Assistance three times each week. Students can arrange to get help on Tuesday and Thursday between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m., or on Wednesday between 3:05 and 3:35 each week. It is helpful if students pre-arrange to meet their teacher, but it is not required.
